Dr. Shaw’s inspiration was realized on a trip with his father to the Kjabe Mission Hospital in Kenya during his second year of medical school. During this trip, after witnessing many patients with facial deformities, he found his passion and a path toward making a real difference in the lives of others.
His specialization in facial plastic surgery began by contributing to a medical mission trip to Belize by the World Pediatric Project. While there, he served on a team of only four surgeons performing life-altering facial reconstruction surgeries on children with severe cleft lip and palate deformities, as well as congenital ear defects.
The Richmond native brought this experience back home to Virginia where he founded his own practice, Travis Shaw MD.
To this day, servitude and philanthropy remain as the cornerstone of his practice by volunteering his time, talent, and monetary resources to the Richmond community.
