Rocking the block with solar power

When Lyndsay Lamb and Leslie Davis were kicking off their Treasure Island, Florida, home renovation project for Season 5 of HGTV’s Rock the Block, they trusted Freedom Solar Power to help them add a robust solar power system to their tropical retreat design. Knowing Florida is hot and home to hurricane season, their goal was to be able to power the home with 100% pollution-free solar power to run that A/C as needed, as well as to power the home should a hurricane ever cause a power outage.

They also knew from their research that solar power was adding incremental valuation to the homes in the area, so they called solar their “ultimate power move” for this season’s competition!

The designers chose to install 21 Solar Panels (manufactured by Mission Solar) and 3 Tesla Powerwall backup batteries.

Should the electric grid ever go out due to severe weather, this system will keep the condo powered for 72 hours or longer — making the home a perfect haven for everyone on the block.

We also installed a Chargepoint Home Electric Vehicle charger so that future homeowners can fuel their cars through solar power.
